A convention services manager will attend your convention one year in advance to witness firsthand how your convention is operated, and then suggest a wide range of creative options for hosting your convention the following year in Houston.  The department will serve as personal consultants, providing expert service and unparalleled assistance for your meeting.

A wealth of experience and the creative thinking of the talented staff sets the GHCVB's convention services department apart.  Here are some of the services we can provide for your next convention:

Client consultation: We meet with the client to determine all meeting needs and provide the entire membership list for vendor searches.

Site inspections: We arrange site agendas for clients who have booked business in Houston, including visits with hotel, restaurant and other member service organizations, staying onsite at inspections until every need is met.

Supplier leads: Convention services managers represent all member categories impartially to the meeting planner.  We will direct planners to the appropriate category listings in order to encourage using only GHCVB members.  We also ask meeting planners for additional information on their needs in order to provide email leads to specific member categories.

Member services: We stay up-to-date with members about the client's needs and concerns.  With four training seminars each year, our members will provide you with the most current industry services.

Attendance promotion trips: Our staff travels to your convention site a year prior to the Houston event to promote attendance for the upcoming Houston convention, upon request. We can also design postcards and e-newsletters that can be sent to attendees throughout the year reminding them of the upcoming conference.  Microsites can also be created for a convention that include information on housing, registration and scheduled events and activities.

Convention Awareness Program: For major and citywide conventions, we'll provide welcome banners at all appropriate airport terminals, welcome signs and buttons to member hotels and restaurants surrounding the convention site and will distribute window signs to restaurants and stores to welcome convention attendees.  We will also alert taxi companies, airports, pedicabs and the police department of upcoming conventions.

Onsite promotion: We provide a Houston Attractions and Restaurant booth at all citywide conventions, offering restaurant reservations, information on fun things to do and other assistance for attendees.  We also distribute a variety of brochures, including a member restaurant incentive program with discounts and special offers.
