Strip House
When people visit from out of town, they should never miss Strip House …of course! Kaye O’Toole and Chateau Domaine for fabulous antiques, Neiman Marcus, and a visit to one of the many great museums. I especially like the Contemporary Arts Museum.
My perfect day in Houston begins with breakfast at the Four Seasons with my husband Peter, then browsing around the antique stores with him, forever looking for unique items for our house. We have found many interesting treasures that we are now enjoying at our home in the Hamptons. Next we like to find a great bar-b-que place to have lunch, then an afternoon meeting at Strip House with my publicist Karen Henry of the PR Boutique and the executive chef John Schenk. After, we have dinner at Strip House and get to say hello to many of our customers.
My favorite places to eat? Goode Company Bar-B-Q, Cleburne Cafeteria and Luling City Market -- we have never seen anything like these places. We always eat dinner at Strip House to make sure all elements are running to our standards.
I enjoy walking around The Galleria. All the fabulous stores (Neiman's standards) are located in one area.
Houston's best kept secret is the Downtown Underground. I never saw people walking on the streets and wondered why until I discovered the underground shops and tunnels.
When we decided to go outside of the New York City area to expand our Strip House concept, we chose Houston for many reasons, but especially to be a part of the redevopment of downtown. It is very exciting to see, after almost 3 years what has happened in downtown. The skyline is forever changing.
