Houstonians make Houston special. Houston can be harsh geographically and hot, but the supportive and collaborative nature of its arts, education, sports and civic communities make it absolutely sparkle.
People are most likely to find me at the Art Colony Association World Headquarters, plotting to take over the planet, one world-class art festival at a time!
My perfect day in Houston: Breakfast burrito in the East End, coffee at Catalina, lazy morning in the Heights on 19th Street, lunch with pals in the Museum District, touring new exhibits and shows at CAMH or Lawndale, a kiss on the lips from Cleveland Turner [the Flower Man], an evening of art openings - all followed by a nightcap at Pearl, soundtrack courtesy of Country and Western DJ night.
My favorite places to eat are Raja's on Hillcroft, Field of Green's on West Alabama, Chocolate Bar and Hobbit Cafe. I like to shop at Sephora and Bayou City Art Festival - Downtown or Memorial!
Houston's best kept secret is how absolutely green it is!
I've lived all over the world and I choose Houston - there is an ease and accessibility to all facets of wonderful and comfortable living that make Houston the pillow I want to lay my head down on at night!
