If someone visits from out of town, they can't miss Minute Maid Park and the Theater District. Minute Maid Park is arguably one of the best ballparks in the country and our Theater District is home to some of the best cultural and performing arts companies you will find anywhere in the world.
For as large a city as Houston is, it has an amazing small town feel. It’s easy to meet new people and network. I love the neighborhood feel Houston has and the diversity of the people who make things happen.
The arts scene in Houston is fantastic! Not only do we have world class ballet, opera, theatre, and symphony in our Theatre District but we have such quality smaller and mid-size arts groups like Nova Arts Project and Mercury Baroque that contribute so much to the vibrancy of Houston’s arts community.
People are most likely to find me at a concert. I am a live music junkie so I go to as many shows as I can. I love Warehouse Live, Meridian and Verizon Wireless Theater because they are the best places to see up and coming bands.
I love to eat, so Houston is a pretty good place to be for that! My perfect day would be one of our gorgeous days in November playing golf and then going out to eat and catching a concert.
Favorite places to eat: On opposite sides of the spectrum there is Tacos a Go Go which has tacos to die for. It’s one of those places you can go to for lunch or breakfast or at midnight. It’s hole in the wall at it’s best! Then for a quality night out, 17 at the Alden is wonderful!
I’m very much a guy when it comes to shopping. I like to run in and get what I want and leave. I think Macy’s at The Galleria is great for clothes, and Half Price Books is one of those stores I don’t mind spending some time in.
What is Houston's best kept secret? Well, I’ve beat the arts drum quite a bit, but I think even Houstonians don’t realize what we have access to. But, outside of that, I think the best kept secret is how easy it is to live here. I know traffic can be bad at times but it’s like that in most big cities. We have access to so much here. Opportunity abounds and the cost of living makes it possible to have a quality lifestyle, and with a little hard work, the ability to live your dreams.
